Orbifs presents a project drive on each computer. Files appear as ordinary files and folders, but open on demand from European data centres — so a multi-gigabyte folder opens without downloading the whole thing first.
Open a multi-gigabyte folder and it is simply there — no full download, no copies cluttering your disk. Everyone on the project sees the same files, permissions and lock state, kept in sync automatically.
| What you get | What it means for your team |
|---|---|
| Works like a local drive | Files and folders appear in Explorer and Finder. Open, edit and save exactly as you do today. |
| Always in sync | Everyone on the project sees the same files, permissions and lock state — without copies or conflicts. |
| Made for big files | Multi-gigabyte models and point clouds open on demand — no full downloads, no disks filling up. |
| Hosted in Europe | Your data stays in France, under EU control, with recoverable version history. |
| Admin in one place | Manage users, roles, per-project permissions, retention and audit from one console. |
Orbifs opens files on demand instead of syncing whole folders. Only what you open comes down; everything else stays in Europe until you need it. No more waiting for a 14 GB point cloud to download before you can work.
Orbifs applies application-aware locking to CAD and BIM files, with the lock state visible to the whole team. When someone is editing, others see it — so files don’t get silently overwritten and you never end up with “(conflicted copy 3)” again.
Every change keeps a version, held immutable through your plan’s retention window. Restore a previous version or a deleted file in a few clicks — the foundation for recovering from mistakes and ransomware. We say recoverable, not “ransomware-proof,” because that is the honest word.
BIM production runs Windows-heavy; design and leadership lean Mac. Orbifs ships native clients for both, released near-simultaneously, so the whole firm works from the same project drive on the desktop they already use.
A clear line between what Orbifs commits to at launch, what ships as labelled beta, and what is on the roadmap but not promised yet. It keeps sales honest and customers confident.
Virtual drive on Windows & macOS with on-demand access, application-aware locking with visible state, version history and restore, EU hosting in France, admin console (users, roles, permissions, retention), multi-factor authentication, and audit logs (export gated to Business+).
Office-network acceleration, anomaly detection, and a high-performance option. These ship explicitly marked as beta and are covered by beta terms rather than the standard SLA while we validate them in the field.
SSO/SAML hardening, audit-export refinements, restore-test tooling, and onboarding/migration tooling.
Customer-managed encryption keys, advanced retention policies, dedicated single-tenant hosting, and formal certification work.
Security certifications (ISO 27001, SOC 2) are not claimed until achieved. We do not assert zero-knowledge or end-to-end encryption. Published RPO/RTO restore guarantees come once the backup policy sets them — and we say “recoverable,” never “ransomware-proof.”
We migrate one live project, configure users and locking, test Windows/macOS access, and run a restore test. If your team doesn’t prefer it over NAS, VPN or sync tools — you don’t pay.
